How a session works.
Follow one session. Sam drafts a launch email for 25 minutes, and Maya sees it and joins in.
Add your people.
Pick a small circle of two to six people: friends, co-founders, the person who shares your desk. Only they can see you. Everyone else sees nothing.
Say what you are working on.
Click Accountably in your menubar, type the one thing you are doing and press Go. The timer starts in your menubar. A session lasts 25 minutes unless you set another length, anywhere from 5 to 60.
Your people see you focusing.
Maya and Tom are idle. On their Mac, Sam’s ring fills teal and the task appears under the name. The iPhone app will show the same. No message is sent. They see it the next time they look.
Join someone.
Maya sees Sam focusing and clicks Join. She is now in Sam’s session, and both timers end at the same moment. On iPhone, it will be one tap.
Finish the session.
When the time is up, Sam gets a summary: minutes focused and sessions done today. Then start another, or stop for the day.
Starting is easier with company.
Most people find it easier to get going when someone else is working nearby. A colleague at the next desk. A full library. A busy café. Some call this body doubling.
Working alone takes that away. Accountably gives a little of it back. You can see your people are at it, and they can see you are too. Nobody has to talk, and nobody has to be on camera.
No chat. On purpose.
You already have Slack, WhatsApp, Discord and a dozen other places to talk. Accountably has no messages at all. You see who is working and on what, and nothing more.
